Andrew O'Neill isn't your usual
stand-up comedian. Yes, he tells jokes. Yes, he makes you laugh. But
whether he's extolling the virtues of London's beggars, or getting
more serious with his deeply-held political beliefs, he's an engaging
performer and a thought-provoking comic. Andrew is a self-confessed
and proud anarchist (it's all about freedom of association and
fighting repressive power systems), vegan (it's all about the
unnecessary use and exploitation of animals) and tranvestite (it's
down to the wiring in his brain) - all of which comes through in his
comedy.
Andrew is a regular contributor, writer
and performer on BBC Radio 1's late-night comedy slot 'The Milk Run';
he has also written sketches for Radio 1's exam results campaign and
continues to be much in demand as a comedy actor and writer. He can
next be seen in the new Steve Coogan sitcom 'Saxondale', due to
air in the summer of 2006.
Andrew also took the brave step of
appearing on Channel 4's 'The Salon', mainly so that he could
get his hair done for free and meet Russell Grant.
He will take his debut show ‘Winston
Churchill was Jack The Ripper’ to the Edinburgh Fringe in 2006
– a historical-comic show proving beyond all reasonable doubt that
Britain’s Greatest Prime Minister, and Britain’s Most Notorious Serial
Killer, were one and the same person.
