Benjamin Crellin is prolific,
consistent and highly in-demand stand-up and one of New Zealand’s top
international comedians. With eighteen televised stand-up performances
and four nominations for his countries highest comedy award he is
becoming a veteran of the industry. Crellin has written six solo shows.
His latest show @WITSEND premiered at the 2004 NZ International Comedy
Festival to critical acclaim and then toured to five Canadian Fringe
Festivals gaining 4 star reviews and sell-out shows in Edmonton,
Victoria and Vancouver.
During this time he was seen and
selected for showcase performances at The Montreal Just For Laughs
Festival and The Vancouver International Comedy Festival.
He is currently performing club dates
in the U.K, New York and Australia but will return to NZ in April 05
to teach at the National Youth Drama School and work up material for
his new show.
An experienced improviser, he has
been a core cast member of several long running improv based shows (Xprov,
Loose Cannons, Late N Live) and as a trained actor and has had
character roles in stage (Macbeth, Waiting for Raywen, The Toss) and
T.V productions (Xena, Young Hercules, various TVCs).
He is also an accomplished comedy
writer in several mediums including radio (News in Briefs, Star ship
Cortina, Hound of the Dargavilles, Fitianga Jones) and T.V (Pulp
Comedy, Straussman)
He recently co authored his first
book: Way Of The Jafa which after its July release spent two months on
the NZ Top Ten Bestseller list.
