Jimmy Carr

Jimmy Carr is one of the most original and distinctive new stars on television. Jimmy was recently a guest on the current series of ‘Parkinson’ (BBC1) and ‘Bafta Tribute to Bob Monkhouse’ (BBC1). And, as the face of comedy on Channel 4, after the successes of ‘Your Face Or Mine’ and the first series of the prime-time game show ‘Distraction’, he is currently presenting the second series of ‘Distraction’, which started on Channel 4 on 16th April 2004. Jimmy was a recent guest presenter on ‘Have I Got News For You’ (BBC2) & appeared for the second time on 'Never Mind The Buzzcocks' (BBC2) and ‘QI’ (BBC2), alongside several presenting roles on Channel 4 shows such as ‘100 Worst Pop Records’, ‘100 Worst Britons’ and ‘100 Scary Moments’.

2004 was a remarkably successful year for Jimmy’s live work. In 2003 he sold out an entire month’s performances of his Edinburgh Festival show ‘Charm Offensive’ by the second day of the festival, and received 5* reviews from four major newspapers. In 2004 he performed sold out solo shows at Dublin’s Vicar Street, & the Leicester Comedy Festival, can also soon be seen at the Glasgow Festival, Kilkenny Festival and the Galway Festival along with appearances at The Bloomsbury Theatre, London where he filmed his first live DVD.

‘The brightest British comic hope for a long, long while…The most deliciously transgressive comic…He is not so much pushing out the boundaries as sailing in uncharted waters…Superb.’ Irish Times

‘A masterclass in comedy…devastating, tasteless two-liners that are bliss to listen to…Carr’s persona is irresistible, and his wisecracks have you quivering with satisfaction’ Guardian

‘Witty, surprising, different, and clearly a new onscreen presenter for the future.’
Kirsty Young, Presenter, RTS Awards 2003
