Omid Djalili
Omid Djalili

Omid Djalili is Britain's funniest Iranian stand-up comedian and actor. Well, alright, he's Britain's only Iranian stand-up comedian and actor. But he is funny. He has a full-on, barnstorming approach which is an all-encompassing and theatrical experience.

Enthusiastically engaging, even on potentially politically rocky ground, he is never cynical. You name the prejudice, he can tiptoe around issues of taste, decency and outright outrage, parodying the West, the East and anything in between. Who could resist ' 'a laugh, a song, a fundamentalist diatribe against Western imperialism", with the added possible draw of belly- or disco dancing.

Djalili is one of the funniest, freshest and most original comedians in Britain, but he also has wide international appeal, having performed in recent years in Australia, Austria, America, Canada, Czech Republic, Denmark, Germany, Holland, Sweden, Norway, Switzerland and Slovakia.

Media credits include Have I Got News for You (BBC2), Room 101 (BBC2) and Jack Dee, Live at the Apollo (BBC1). In the US, he played opposite Whoopi Goldberg in the comedy Whoopi! (NBC). He's also a well-known face on the big screen, appearing in blockbuster films such as The World Is Not Enough , The Mummy , and Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow. He's even managed to break away from his Hollywood-dictated acting roles of Middle-Eastern spiv/heavy #2, appearing as Picasso in Modigliani .

Truly a man of many talents. And he brings them all to the stage with every live gig.

'Hilarious and painfully funny, Omid Djalili is unmissable'
Independent

'His explosive and wide-eyed humour comes bursting out of nowhere, sending the audience into fits'
Scotsman

'Djalili blows you away with a blizzard of gags'
Observer
