Tiernan Douieb started life in a
hospital on Jan 9th 1981. The hospital has since been closed and is
now a home for the mentally ill. He accepts no responsibility for
this.
Several grueling years later, he tried
his hand at stand-up comedy after having cheated by taking a stand-up
course at The University of Kent, taught by Oliver Double. Tiernan
took to the London and UK scene in June 2003 and started gigging
regularly.
With his stupidly unpronounceable name,
Tiernan now regularly does 20 minute sets and MC'ing for various
promoters and clubs all over the country including Off The Kerb,
Amused Moose, Comedy Café, Agraman, Downstairs
at the Kings Head and Brett Vincent for Underbelly Productions
and even Comedy 4 Kids, where a six year old child stared at
him blankly for 10 minutes.
He also performed weekly sketches for ‘
I Want 2 B Comedy’ for Home Choice TV, two of which were so risque
that he and his sketch partner - Lauren Shearing - had comedy pieces
were banned from late night TV twice! Tiernan also made several
plumbers very angry in a reality set up for the pilot of a new Graham
Norton show for BBC.
Tiernan co-runs 'Fat Tuesday' at
the Salmon and Compass in Islington along with Jamie Douglas. They
have had headliners such as Reg D Hunter, Russell Brand,
Simon Amstell, Andre Vincent and Stewart Lee and
it is constantly a good night with much silliness and sometimes free
popcorn.
Tiernan's comedy is much like him,
quick, lively, odd and beardy. General topics include dancing bears,
Lionel Richie, breakdancing, glowing pigs and the Samaritans.
'Douieb was energetic, fast paced and
his humour was full of kitch appeal and observations about the good
and ill of modern British life.' bbc.co.uk
